Trainer to You Launches FitCAMP,
Putting Fun Back into Fitness Training with Functional
Exercises for Everyday Life
TEMECULA, CA, November 16 2007 –
Trainer to You, a personal training company based in
Temecula, has the answer for adults and kids who need
to lose weight, build strength, increase agility and
stamina, and improve general fitness, but find exercising
to be tedious.
The company is launching FitCAMP
with four programs: FitCAMP, FitCAMPPlus, LunchCAMP,
and KidsCAMP. All FitCAMP programs utilize functional
training techniques, which “teach muscle groups
to work together, rather than isolating individual muscles,”
says FitCAMP trainer Teri McQuaid. Adds Helen Ryan,
also a FitCAMP trainer, “What good is doing bicep
curls if you can’t carry a suitcase without hurting
your back? Working the body as a whole helps you perform
better in your daily life.”
FitCAMP is a 60-minute total-body workout using bodyweight
training, strength and agility drills, and endurance
components. Sessions are designed for people just getting
started with exercising as well as those who need a
challenge.
FitCAMPPlus is a 45-minute version
of FitCAMP created specifically for plus-sized individuals
interested in improving fitness and losing weight. Ryan
says she wanted a program in which overweight people
feel comfortable.
Ryan, who lost 82 pounds four years
ago, knows what it feels like to carry extra weight.
“I may be lean now, but I'll always remember how
my 5-foot 1-inch body felt at 200 pounds," she
says. "Our bodies don't move like thinner ones
do. There are things we can do and things we can't…for
now,” Ryan adds. “Through FitCAMPPlus, I
want to help people become comfortable with their bodies
and learn how good it feels to use them and accomplish
something.”
LunchCAMP is a 30-minute condensed
program designed to get people in shape during their
lunch breaks. Sessions will be held indoors in Temecula
where locker rooms and showers are available.
KidsCAMP is a 45-minute fitness adventure for kids age
8 to 15 geared towards getting kids moving. According
to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, over
the past three decades the childhood obesity rate has
more than doubled for preschool children and adolescents,
while tripling for children aged 6-11 years. KidsCAMP
aims to reverse that trend by providing a fun, yet challenging,
exercise program.
“Obesity and illnesses resulting
from obesity, such as diabetes, are on the rise in children,”
notes McQuaid. “KidsCAMP is designed to make exercising
interesting and enjoyable for those kids who don’t
play sports and may be reluctant to get away from the
TV or computer. We want to instill in young people a
life-long interest in exercise.”
The programs start in January 2008,
but space is limited and pre-registration is open now.
Gift certificates are available for holiday gift-giving.
FitCAMPs are conducted by certified
personal trainers. Sessions meet two days a week for
four weeks and are ongoing and renewable. There will
be indoor and outdoor sessions for each FitCAMP except
LunchCAMP. The programs utilize an ever-changing variety
of functional fitness training exercises and activities
tailored to the abilities and goals common to the participants
in each group.
Functional fitness training is a
rapidly growing and popular form of personal training
designed to provide a full-body workout for overall
fitness. Instead of building specialized muscle strength
or general endurance, functional fitness training engages
more muscles simultaneously, utilizes the core, and
improves balance, which assists everyday living and
helps ward off nagging pain and injury.
